Burning Strings Returns
Following a three-year hiatus due to the pandemic, Burning Strings returned to assembly in March. A tradition begun in 2003, Burning Strings united 15 faculty, staff, an alumnus, and students for a set of Irish music on or near St. Patrick's Day – including violins, violas, guitars , clarinet, recorder, melodica, and percussion.

In Earth Systems Science, 9th graders simulated polluting the Potomac River and then cleaning it up. Since wetlands act like strainers, sponges, and other household implements, students used those actual items to simulate the clean-up process.
In Advanced Earth Systems Science, 10th and 11th graders drew upon the National Park Service's style to create tourism posters that advertise different geologic periods. What do you think about spending Spring Break in the Proterozoic Era?

Fatou reports that, after exploring the twists and turns of stéreotypes about French peoples from the American perspective (and vice-versa), French 4 met on Zoom with 11th graders from Saint-Louis Saint-Clément de Viry Châtillon (below left) in the Paris suburbs.
The conversation included French romanticism and fancy clothing, as well as Americans' purported preference for fast food, among other stéréotypes, and featured many cordial questions from both continents.
