In Memory of David Shapiro
David Shapiro, beloved Head of School from 1999-2011, passed away on November 23.
David's accomplishments, too numerous to name, still infuse our school daily: the Hobbes building (dedicated in 2006), the new mission statement, the "color day" rotation (with a wardrobe to match!), and many more.
Moreover, David himself was an ebullient, creative, clever, and truly one-of-a-kind presence at Burke. His impact on students, families, and past and current faculty and staff cannot be understated.

David is survived by his husband Scott Kenison, son Alex, daughter-in-law Claire, and grandsons Theo and Vincent.
