Founders' Day: Tour de Burke 2023

"What a fabulous day celebrating who we are as a school." - Stacy S. (HVE / Leadership)
The day began with keynote speaker Liz Lizama (aunt of Macayle C. '23), Head of the Communications Unit at IOM - UN Migration, "the leading intergovernmental organization in the field of migration" (Who We Are). Next, twelve inter-grade teams, drawing inspiration from the World Cup and from different global cities, competed in a door decor contest, a dance and lip sync battle in the Atrium, and a competitively absurd relay race on Howard Field – followed by tacos for lunch.

In the end, Paris and Tokyo were in a closely-fought contest, but Team Tokyo ultimately emerged with the victory. (Thanks in no small part to the peerless dance moves of Sam.) Special thank to Founders' Day leaders: Angel J. '23, Ava M. '24, Carrie J. '24, Hazel B. '23, Jack S. '24, Kameron F. '23, Kavya T. '24, Macayle C. '23, Maite B.G. '24, Margaret H. '23, Marissa W. '24, Mateo M '23, Mia D. '24, Niki P. '24, Owen G. '24, Reed R. J '23, Reese, G. '23, Sam S. '23, Sienna M. '24, and Stella T. '24.

Each April, students, faculty, and staff celebrate the vision of Jean Mooskin and Dick Roth, who founded Edmund Burke School together in 1968 (pictured above).
