Artistic Approaches

Spotlight on The Ancient World and Advanced Art History.
A Tabletop Approach

In late October, 9th graders in The Ancient World class conceptualized board games that track Alexander III of Macedon's endeavours in the 3rd century BCE.

After carefully constructing their own games, students played each other's – learning content details while also observing organizational techniques that work or that need improvement.

The Artist's Studio

This trimester, 12th grade Art History students visited the Contemporary Art Museum of Arlington for a private viewing with the artist of "Let them kids be kids" by Lex Marie. The exhibit focuses on the Black childhood, both the joys and ways society inscribes meaning onto it.

A mixed media artist, Marie talked with students about her process, answered questions, and brought them into her studio in the galleries.
