Student-Led Support

A month into the new year, numerous student groups have found creative ways to support local causes, including:

  • The 9th Grade Social Action Committee's Food Drive for the Capital Area Food Bank continues through February 28. Collection boxes are in the 1st Floor, 4th Floor, Atrium, and Commons.
  • This past Wednesday, the Asian Students Association hosted a "bake and snack" sale to benefit Asian American Youth LEAD, including traditional snacks and bubble teas.
  • At a two-day bake sale, SSASI (Students Supporting All Sexualities & Identities) raised funds for Casa Ruby, a DC nonprofit serving  transgender, genderqueer, and gender non-conforming people. Every SSASI member contributed their time or baked goods (or both) to the effort.
  • Cheers to Ethan M. '24, the winner of the Fundraising Club's Candy Jar Fundraiser. Proceeds are headed to Children's National Hospital.
  • The Oxford Comma Club concludes a paperback book drive to support DC Books to Prisons this week. Founded in 1999, this non-profit provides free books in more than 600 prisons.
