In a typical year, seniors projects are two-week internships or independent studies, often completed at local organizations and nonprofits. While most on-site projects were not in the cards this year (and the timeline was a bit shorter), the Class of 2021 showed an amazing array of creative, hands-on work:
With seven fellow seniors, Julia P. '21 led a project focused on independent mobility for young children, modifying ride-on cars into adaptive equipment through rewiring and support structures
Both a skilled skateboarder and editor, Owen O. '21crafted an upbeat short film, documenting travels around DC by skateboard
Inspired by the British program, Jen C., Lily B., Sujin L., Abby R. & Maya C. '21created The Great Burke Bake-Off, competing to make the most delectable treats and donating them to the breakfast cafe at Capitol Hill United Methodist Church
Kalea G. P. '21 & Izzy G. '21 teamed up to offer Burke Fashion Week, providing in-person fashion design instruction to their fellow seniors, ranging from mood boards to pattern-making
