New to Burke in Fall 2021: Yvette

We are excited to announce that Yvette Santos Cuenco will be Burke's next School Counselor, beginning in Fall 2021.
Yvette is a Filipino American school counselor currently living in Abu Dhabi, UAE. She is from the Bay Area and lived in Brooklyn, NY, prior to her adventures abroad. Yvette holds a BA in Anthropology and Asian American Studies from UCLA, received her MSW from New York University, and is a Licensed Master Social Worker in New York State. Yvette started her therapy/counseling journey in Brooklyn, where she provided therapeutic interventions to students with mental health and learning needs in a public school setting. In 2011, she took her experience to Tashkent, Uzbekistan, as an international school counselor. This sparked a 10-year global journey from Uzbekistan to Thailand to China and now to the UAE.

Yvette loves working with children, adolescents, and families from around the world and supporting their mental health and well-being. In addition to her school counseling work, she is passionate about diversity, equity, inclusion, and social justice in education and the counseling field. Outside of work, Yvette is an avid cook, DJ, and photographer. Yvette shares these adventures with her husband Joe (who grew up in the DC area!) and their dog Milo, pictured here.
