Charlie '25

Started in 11th Grade - "I can say with confidence, that my junior year has been the best year of high school."
Hometown: Bethesda, MD
Favorite Classes: AP US History & Advanced Studio Art
Favorite spot: the Keith Haring mural in the high school staircase

What has been your favorite class project this year?
The arthropod genetic extraction project in Advanced Research in Molecular Biology.

What has been a memorable moment during Middle or High School?
Playing in the girls' varsity soccer 2023 homecoming game.

Is there a challenge that stands out?
My challenge was playing softball for Burke. I hadn’t played in a while when I signed up, so I was nervous about what to expect. Throughout the season, I discovered that I really enjoyed playing catcher – and I made new friends.

What do you like to do for fun or on the weekend?
In my free time I play travel soccer. When I’m not playing soccer, I’m hanging out with friends, drawing, or doing something else art-related.

How would you describe Burke to a new student?
Burke welcomes everyone and encourages you to try new things and hang out with everyone regardless of their grade. I knew that transferring to a new school for my junior was going to be hard, but Burke made the transition smooth. I am really glad that I made the switch, and I can say with confidence, that my junior year has been the best year of high school.
