We are delighted that you are considering Burke. Our application for Fall 2024 admission is now open.
To get started, create an account in Ravenna, an online admissions system that many independent schools use. Next, go to Edmund Burke School in the Directory and select “Apply,” which will get your application process started. (Here are some graphic directions.)

- Application form - submitted in Ravenna
- Supplementary documents, including a transcript - submitted in Ravenna
- Student and parent interview - after you submit the application form, we will reach out to schedule
Optional Components:
- Family tours and Open Houses – recommended to help you get to know Burke
- School Day and Shadow Visits - after you submit the application form, you will be able to schedule a student visit
- Burke's Financial Aid Form - submitted via Google Forms
- Full Financial Aid Application - submitted in Clarity (NEW)
- Standardized testing, such as the ISEE or SSAT

Expansion Years at Burke
Burke welcomes applications for 6th-11th grade. The following grades are considered "expansion years" (or "entry years"), when we expect the size of the grade to increase:
- 6th grade - all students are new
- 7th grade
- 9th grade - class roughly doubles in size
- 10th grade
Among 2023-24 Burke students:
63% live in the District
30% live in Maryland
7% live in Virginia

Why a 6th-12th grade school?
In 1973, Edmund Burke School moved from Wyoming Avenue to our current home on Upton Street; the following year, Burke added a Middle School. Since then, Burke has offered a Middle and High School program on a single campus in Washington, DC.Read Full Story
