We are excited to share the newest members of Edmund Burke School's administrative and academic leadership for 2026-27.
Our Head of High School will be Nina Candia. An experienced classroom teacher, division leader, and champion of student-centered and progressive education, Nina has served as the Assistant Head of Upper School at Maret School since 2019. At Maret, she is also the 9th Grade Dean, an upper school English teacher, and a member of the Equity, Inclusion, & Belonging Office. She previously served as Dean of Students at Garrison Forest School and was a member of the English department faculty at Madeira School for seven years. She earned a bachelor's degree from Barnard College and master's from Georgetown University. During Nina's daylong visit, she impressed everyone with her breadth of leadership experience, her connection with students, and her thoughtful and reflective communication style – and we are incredibly excited to welcome her to Upton Street.
Our High School Academic Dean will be Mustafa Nusraty. Now in his 11th year with Burke's History department, he has also served as 12th Grade Dean, department chair, mentor, affinity group advisor, and ombuds officer – experiences that inform his vision for a new faculty and staff onboarding program and his capacity to collaborate strongly with teachers, students, and families. Known as an insightful, organized systems-thinker, with a signature wit, he truly "sees how Burke fits together." Mustafa earned his bachelor's degree in government and politics from the University of Maryland and his master's in teaching from American University.
