HS Boys T&F 2nd, Girls 3rd at PVAC Championships

The HS Boys Track & Field Team tied St. Anselm's with 89 points to earn a 2nd place team plaque at the PVAC Championships. The Girls put in a strong effort to finish 3rd only 12 points behind 2nd place Oakcrest. Val, Molly, Dana, Mathilde, Corey, Alex, and Tariye earned All-PVAC honors.
The Boys earned a plaque for their 2nd place finish at the PVAC Championships, tying St. Anselm’s with 89 points. It was their highest finish since they won the banner in 2009. The Boys were consistently strong, scoring points in every event but one. Tariye G-P ‘12, Alex S ‘12, Corey H ‘11 led the way. Tariye displayed amazing versatility scoring in all four of his very different events: 2nd in the Shot Put and Discus, 3rd in the 110 Hurdles, and 4th in the Triple Jump. Alex excelled in the hurdles, winning the 300 Hurdles and placing 2nd in the 110s. Corey was 2nd in the Long Jump, which was only his 3rd meet jumping ever, 3rd in the 100m and led off the 4th place 4 X 100 team. Jerry L ‘13 earned two 4th place ribbons in the 300H and the 200 and also ran on the 4 x 100 team. Jacob W ‘13 garnered 3rd in the 3200 and 6th in the 1600. Phil S ‘13 finished 3rd in the 400 and anchored the 4th place 4 X 400 team. Finally, in this incredibly close meet, freshman Daniel H ‘15 earned 1 crucial point, placing 6th in the 110 Hurdles.

The Girls Track and Field team finished 3rd at the at the PVAC Championships. It was the team’s best finish since they won the banner in 2006! The Girls were led by four seniors: Valerie P ‘12, Dana B-K ‘12, Molly M ‘12 and Mathilde A ‘12. Valerie was 2nd in both jumping events and 3rd in the 100. Dana was second in both throwing events. Molly was 2nd in the 800, 4th in the 1600, and anchored the 3rd place 4 X 400 team. Mathilde was 3rd in the 3200, 6th in the 1600, and ran a great leg on the 4 X 400 team. All four girls also left their mark on the School Records list with one or more of their performances at the meet. Also placing for the girls: Mylz T ‘14 was 3rd in the Triple Jump, Enti M ‘13 was 4th in the 300H, Lauren S ‘12 was 4th in the Triple Jump, and Maggie E ‘14 was 6th in the 300H.
