Class & Club Spotlight - Part 5

All Around Town
Sean F. writes, "The 6th grade visited the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library and the Chinatown Friendship Arch, as a part of our DC History project. They took a guided tour and learned the history of the library, and visited the teen section, the fabrication lab in the basement, and of course the fabulously fast slide. They then walked over to the Chinatown Friendship Arch to learn a bit of its and DC's Chinatown history. They are looking forward to a visit to the National Mall next."
New Perspectives
The fall Digital Photo 11/12 class recently met on the National Mall. Kirsten W. '01 reports, "The students explored the Mall through their cameras and created narrative photo series on themes, such as the details of democracy and contrasting tourist versus citizen perspectives."

On the Fly
In 12th grade Physics, seniors are investigating projectile motion for objects launched at an angle, analyzing velocity in vertical and horizontal components. Kelly F. writes, "Using the launching range and altitude over multiple launches, we calculated the launching speed." Students also crafted their own 'ring of fire' for the projectile to zoom through. You can read detailed write-ups in the science hallway.
