A Taste of Culture (and more)

On Tuesday, May 7, we celebrated the wide range of cultures and traditions represented at Burke – starting with steelpan music on the front steps during arrival.
 
 Assembly, students and adults presented historical figures from their cultures, including Deni Avdija, Elton John, Gabriela Silang, and TLC. Priya B. '30Ella B. '30, and Kendall T. '30 wrote and shared poetry; Dante L. '24 and John teamed up to perform German Baroque music; Sharielle and Vidya  explored music of Trinidad and Tobago; Madison A. '25 and Keazia H. G. '25 represented Panama and the Dominican Republic and Arsema T. '28, Yanet G. '28, and Amy T. '28 represented Ethiopia, both through dance. The celebration concluded with a "Taste of Culture" food market, which filled the Commons and Atrium with delectable dishes from around the world.
