In Memory of David Shapiro

We are heartbroken to share that David Shapiro, Edmund Burke School's Head of School from 1999 to 2011, passed away on Thursday, November 23.
David's accomplishments, too numerous to name, still infuse our school daily: the Hobbes building (dedicated in 2006), the new mission statement, the "color day" rotation (with a wardrobe to match!), and many more. Moreover, David himself was an ebullient, creative, clever, and truly one-of-a-kind presence at Burke. His impact on students, families, and past and current faculty and staff cannot be overstated.

David is survived by his husband Scott Kenison, son Alex, daughter-in-law Claire, and grandsons Theo and Vincent. More information about a memorial and ways to celebrate David's life will be shared as soon as possible.
