Before Spring Break, Alice C. '21 (Carnegie Mellon '25) visited the Science Club to talk about majoring in Astrophysics and minoring in Math. A Burke "Lifer," Alice started in 6th grade after relocating from Alaska. She made room for six science classes in High School, dubbing AP Chemistry with Bob K. an "absolute favorite" (which enabled her to jump to Chemistry 2 in college).
Alice added that Carnegie Mellon was "a lot of work, and that's what I wanted: to be a good scientist, contribute to the world, and do important research." She also stressed the importance of balance – reassuring students that they could take rigorous STEM classes, while remaining rested and active and while maintaining good friendships.
