On and Beyond the Page

In English 12: Nobel Winning Literature, seniors read texts from Nobel-winning authors, generate questions about how the text's dilemmas and symbolism reverberate through the world today, and then meet with an expert panelist to discuss.
Earlier in the trimester, students hosted Lara Pukatch, the Director of Advocacy at Miriam's Kitchen after reading The Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck – discussing how racism influences housing and food insecurity and how elected officials manage representing socioeconomically diverse constituencies. Next up will be discussing Long Day's Journey Into Night by Eugene O'Neill with our own school counselor Yvette C.
