Kristen Franklin

Joined the Board in 2021, and is a member of the Development and Head of School Search committees. Kristen is an independent documentary and portrait photographer (Storybox Photography), working extensively with schools and NGOs across the DC metro region. She also dabbles in graphic design. Prior to her career in photography, Kristen spent several years in research, writing, and product development at National Geographic, then opened and operated a high-end children's boutique in Georgetown. In 2007, she sold her business to focus on motherhood, freelance projects, and volunteering. An active member of her three children’s school communities, Kristen’s volunteer work includes six years as an Aidan Montessori School board trustee, chair of their 50th celebration and three auctions, a capital campaign, strategic planning, and a head of school search. She earned her B.A. in Biological Anthropology & Anatomy from Duke University, where she met her husband, and is the parent of Owen, ’24.
