Starting in 7th Grade | Middle School

“Coming to Burke was daunting at first. I came from a bigger school and didn’t know what to expect. However, everyone was super welcoming and I was able to connect with people from the very first day.”
— Jack J. ‘26

“Thankfully, we found Burke. It is the community we had hoped for and the transition could not have been smoother. Students were welcoming. Faculty and staff were caring and wanted to really know our daughter to set her up for success.”
—  Tara G. P’28
7th Grade Curriculum Overview

Language Arts explores realistic and fantastical literature through a genre lens. The 7th grade history course, World Geography and Cultures, includes in-depth study of history, anthropology, and economics in Africa, Asia, and Latin America.

In Life Science, students focus on the scientific method, followed by study of the human body, ecology, and sustainability. In Math 7, students focus on algebraic operations and geometric concepts and are placed among two or three “sections,” which offer different pacing. Most then take Algebra 1 or Advanced Algebra 1 in 8th grade.

Students continue to study French or Spanish, with the option for more proficient speakers to join an advanced Spanish 7/8 course with the 8th grade. 🔗 Read more here.
