Bengal Beat: Mid and Late April News

Softball
Early last week, softball was 1-1-1 in the PVAC, including a narrow loss (17-18) to McLean School and a decisive win over Spencerville (17-8). Coach Amy reported, "despite injuries, this team is learning a lot and playing hard. These players have base running down to a science! Amy T. '28, Brooklyn M. '26, Charlie L. '25, Emily R. U. '25, Feli M. F. '30, Lailah B. '25, Matilda P. '26, Miriam K. G. '25, and Yanet G. '28. have all stolen bases this season. Alara R. '28, Aspen C. '27, Brooklyn, Charlie, Emily, Lailah, Matilda, and Miriam have all had solid contact with the ball and driven in runs. Aspen is working hard behind the plate, with more than 10 strikeouts this season."
Baseball
The Bengals made it happen on Senior Night, winning 1-0 against Berman up at Wheaton Regional Park. They recognized senior stalwarts Sam H. '25, Max G. '25, Paul G. '25, Tommy K. '25 and Frederick B. '25, plus team co-managers Shamlan A. '25 and Eve F. '25. Photos by Stacy B. P'26, '24.

Track & Field
The Bengals had a strong showing at this week's PVAC meet, with the high school girls' team taking 2nd overall – just one point behind JDS! Other top five finishes included:
  • Elsa H. '27 and Ashley J. '26 (4th and 5th in the 100m)
  • Arlo H. '25 and David G. '25 (4th and 5th in the 100m)
  • Avery D. '27 (5th in the 800m)
  • Hana Y. '25 and Emma P. '25 (2nd and 3rd in the 300m hurdles), with Hana also taking 3rd in the long jump
  • William T. '25 and Jack J. '26 (3rd and 4th in the 300m hurdles)
  • Ashley, Jorie D. '25, Sydney J. '26, and Elsa (2nd in the 4x100 relay)
  • Layla A. '30, Naomi R. '29, Zari R. T. '30, and Morgan L. C. '30 (2nd in the MS 4x100)
  • Arlo, Gabe D. '28, Ryan S. '26, and David (4th in the 4x100)
  • Sophia H. '25 and Keazia H. G. '25 (3rd and 4th in the shot put), with Keazia also taking 2nd in the discus
  • Layla and Stella B. '30 (3rd and 4th in the long jump)
