Going into the post-season, the Bengals were seeded #7 in the Potomac Valley Athletic Conference (PVAC) and took on rival Field (#2) in the conference quarterfinals on Monday, May 4 – and pulled off a shocking upset, advancing to the semifinals on May 7.
Coach Tyler reported on the Bengals' pitching that day, "Ray W. '26 pitched five innings with six strikeouts and only one earned run. Aaron F. '26 went 3-4 at the plate, and David M. '26 closed out the last two innings on the mound with two strikeouts and no earned runs."
In the semifinals, Burke took on Berman and, quite simply, ran away with the win, 14-4 – sending the Bengals to the PVAC Championships for the first time in program history and capping off a great tenure for graduating seniors Aaron, Ash H. '26, Cassius F. '26, David, and Ray. Cassius pitched 5.2 innings, gave up only 2 earned runs, and recorded 12 strikeouts, and the Bengals secured a spot in the conference championship game.
On Sunday, May 10, Burke and #1-seeded Jewish Day School met at at Dogwood Park in Rockville, MD. While the Bengals fought hard, keeping the game to a 3-3 tie in early innings, they couldn't hold off the Lions en route to a 12-5 win.
Coach Tyler B. wrote, "While the season may not have ended exactly the way we wanted, this group made Burke history. Everyone on this team should feel honored to be a part of it." Coach Adam K. '16 added, "What a ride! The most roller coaster season I have ever seen or experienced. It's fair to say that we, as a team, exceeded everybody's expectations this year."
