Environmentalism Abounds

In the high school, the Sustainability Club (led by JP P. '27) is working to clear the tree boxes and replace invasive plants with native ones.
In Life Science, 7th grade studies the human body, ecology, and sustainability. In tandem, they focus on environmental stewardship in Health, Values & Ethics. Through Clean City DC, last year's 7th grade supported Burke's adoption of the 2800-2900 blocks of Upton Street NW; and this year's 7th grade is sustaining the effort.

Addie's Environmental Science classes have been making the most of our fall weather, identifying and classifying trees and conducting habitat assessments in Rock Creek. Crucial in environmental conservation work, "habitat assessments are influential in protecting some areas against forest harvesting, development, and new detrimental land uses" (via Rutgers University).
