Cross Country (HS)
In the second league meet, hosted by St. Anselm's, Eliza G. '25 again led the Bengals in the Women's Varsity, finishing in 14th. Great 9th grade duo, Elsa H. '27 and Sara C. '27, came in 23rd and 40th. For Men's Varsity, the Bengals finished a strong 2nd as a team, edging out rival Field by 19 points. Charles L. '25 and Owen F. '24 led the Bengals in 5th and 10th out of 120+ runners; Lucas M. '27, Isaac W. '27, and Jack J. '26 showed great teamwork, coming in 18th, 20th, and 21st.
Cross Country (MS)
At the St. Anselm's meet, Neve J. '29 led the Bengals in the Women's 1.5 miles, finishing 12th. AJ A. '28 notched 21st (out of 160+ runners!) in the Men's race. Finishing in the top half were newcomers Elijah C. '30 and Sebi P. '30, leading the team to 6th place.
Girls Varsity Soccer (HS) - pictured
Longtime coach Brendan B. reports, "the season began with a tenacious core of returning players, along with a few bright new personalities. Led by captains
Laila O. '25 and
Bailee C. '24, the team lives and breathes the
value of commitment." Opening the season against Sandy Spring (who hasn't lost to Burke in five years), the squad "brought home a hard-fought tie at 1-1.
Clara E. Z. '24 delivered an individual effort into the corner after beating three opposing players in the box. Brendan adds "they trust each other and know that when they work together, they can be unstoppable."
Coach Stacy S. reports another win (9-2) this past Wednesday, September 20, during an away match at Jewish Day School. Keep it up!
