Shilpa is the Deputy Director of the DC Department of Buildings (DOB) and Deputy Project Executive for the RFK Campus Project, bringing more than two decades of experience in public service and the built environment.  Shilpa’s background spans architecture, construction, and owner representation. Shilpa oversees core DOB functions including Permitting and Inspections, Enforcement and Abatement, Zoning, Information Systems, and the Office of the Surveyor. In her RFK Campus role, Shilpa supports the delivery of major stadium and infrastructure improvements, coordinating with District agencies, the Commanders organization, and key stakeholders. In her previous role serving as Deputy Chief of Facilities at DC Public Schools, where she oversaw capital and non-capital projects for 118 schools and guided development of the school system’s Capital Improvement Plan. Shilpa  is LEED AP and PMP certified and holds a Master’s degree in Project Management from George Washington University. 

In her spare time, Shilpa enjoys long sunny walks and hikes with her daughters admiring nature. She is currently learning martial arts and keenly explores aspects of spirituality. She is a parent to Aisha '30 and Arya '33.
