We believe that the college process can (and should) be positive and rewarding – and we work closely with each individual student to achieve just that.
The College Counseling team works collaboratively with students and families throughout the process. Although they do not begin meeting formally with students until 11th grade, they provide information through sessions with parents and at grade meetings with students.
Starting in the 11th grade, our College Counseling team begins meeting individually with students and families. With each student, we collaboratively develop a college plan tailored to their needs, interests, and goals. We are proud of the broad range of colleges that our students attend, with our 51 members of the Class of 2019 matriculating at 42 different schools.
Our Dean and Associate Dean of College Counseling have nearly 40 years of combined experience in the field and relationships with a wide network of colleges. We also provide direct access to college admissions officers on campus. In Fall 2019, Burke is hosting representatives from 150 different schools who meet with our students in small groups.
Burke also hosts a summer College Application Workshop for rising seniors, providing support with essay-writing and practice interviewing with real admissions officers.
