Civil engineer Bassirou Gaye (brother to Fatou, World Language Department Chair) visited DC for a professional conference this past December – and joined Fatou's classes!
Bassirou shared his experience celebrating Tamkharit, including special foods and music. He also spoke about the topics raised in Une Si Longue Lettre by Mariama Bâ, an iconic French novel on the power dynamics between traditional and modern couples in West Africa and especially in Sénégal.
