Bengal Beat: May - Part 1

Varsity Baseball
Last week, the 3rd-seeded Bengals took on Washington Waldorf in the quarterfinals of the PVAC Championships. Following a suspenseful seventh inning, Burke pulled ahead (3-2), thanks to a game-tying double from Max G. '25 – securing the walk-off win and spot in the semifinals this week!
 
In the semifinals, the Bengals couldn't hold off the 2nd-seeded Sandy Spring team, but still finished their season with incredible determination and spirit. Will H. '24 led the team on batting average and OBP in the regular season, with Max leading in RBIs and Ray W. '26 in strikeouts and ERA.
Golf Team
Good luck to dynamic duo Jackson M. ‘28 and Owen G. ‘24 as they head to the PVAC Championships at Northwest Golf Course on Monday!

Varsity Softball
Early last week, the Bengals took on 1st-seeded Sandy Spring and kept the score tied in the first two innings before falling behind the Wildebeests. Coach Amy reports that Emily R. '25 made "an ESPN-worthy catch in center field to help close out the second inning [and] in the third inning, Ava M. '24 started out with a homerun. Stella T. '24 and Fin T. '23 had big hits and drove in two additional runs. Sunniah S. '27 pitched six strikeouts in that game."
 
The 4th-seeded Bengals then progressed to the PVAC quarterfinals, but could not hold off a strong Hebrew Academy team. Highlights include a triple by Lailah B. '25, an out at third by Beatriz C. '24, seven stolen bases thanks to great running by Pan L. '23, Stacia S. M. '28, and Ava. Fin and Stella made a stellar out at second, Sunniah recorded three strikeouts, and Emily had a solid line drive and drove in a run.
