Equality & Human Rights

The Senior Seminar program aims to strengthen research and writing skills in preparation for college-level work. Each section is broadly organized around an area of social justice and global challenges and opportunities, within which students will choose their individual area of focus.
On December 10, Mónica's Senior Seminar: Equality & Human Rights welcomed guest speaker Ivonne Garza. Before joining Georgetown Law's O'Neill Institute, she "worked as a human rights specialist at the Rapporteurship on the Rights of Migrants of the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights [and] at the Center for Justice and International Law, leading America's Network on Nationality and Statelessness."

Joining the class via Zoom, Ivonne spoke about her academic trajectory, discussed her work to help Maha Mamo, a former stateless person, gain citizenship, and answered questions about how to pursue a career centered in human rights.
