A Grand Grandparents Day

A beloved tradition returned this past week, albeit in a somewhat different form.
In the morning, grandparents and grandfriends – hailing from just down the street and as far as the West Coast and Canada – joined a Zoom panel with Burke administrators, hosted by the Director of Development and the Head of School.

At 11:15 AM, a livestream from the Atrium began, enabling grandparents to watch a full assembly, hosted by the co-presidents of Student Government Association, Ingrid G. '22 and Jay S. '22. Assembly showcased student groups and testimonials and culminated in excerpts from the fall repertory.

After a lunch break, grandparents could choose among a virtual campus tour, led by Leah W. '22 and Lena S. '22, and four different interactive courses:

  • Narratives of Social Justice: Contemporary Artists in a Global Discourse
  • Space Farming With the 7th Grade
  • Thinking of a Halo: Working with 6th Grade Literature
  • Training the Hand and Eye: Blind Contour Drawing
