Celebrating Black History

This past Monday, Burke hosted our annual Black History Month Assembly. As an all-virtual event this year, the assembly could bring together hundreds of students, faculty, staff, and even alumni – through visual art, music, dance, film, and spoken word.
Featured speakers and presentations:

  • Angela and Matt Whittaker '04, performing "I Want to Be Ready"
  • Lailah B. '25 and Sophia H. '25, presenting their own visual art and poetry
  • Leah H. '22 and the Black Student Union, with Gigi G. '23, Leah W. '23, April W. '21, Izzy G. '21, Shelby W. '22, and Vanessa A. (HS Dean of Students), presenting "Time to Stand Up" short film
  • Damian R. Jones (Head of School), closing remarks
