2020-21 Racial Justice Discussion Groups

Our Equity & Inclusion Task Force launched Burke's 2020-21 Racial Justice Discussion Group (RJDG) program during yesterday's 10 AM Community period.
This school-wide program consists of 28 discussion groups – facilitated by 31 faculty, staff, and administrators -- and were formed based on student preference for an affinity or non-affinity group, as well as students' grade level and self-identified race and/or ethnicity in our 2020 Student Demographic Survey.

Over the next four weeks, each RJDG will engage in exercises and activities intended to establish and practice communal norms, build intragroup trust, introduce basic concepts and vocabulary related to diversity, equity, inclusion, and social justice, and develop dialogue and listening skills that will prove essential as we progress toward more complex and challenging topics in the months to come.
