Bengals Back on the Field

This September, Howard Field was one of the first Burke locales to welcome back students in person.

Thanks to detailed re-engagement guidance from the DC State Athletic Association (DCSAA), Burke began offering in-person conditioning for our outdoor sports early this fall.
Small "pods" of soccer players and cross country runners met at Howard Field, our primary practice field, just a couple blocks down Upton Street – engaging in drills and fitness and enjoying one another's company, while also getting in some solid masking and social distancing practice.

For students and coaches who could not yet come to campus, Burke offered fully remote programs in soccer, cross country, and volleyball. Specialized apps, including TechneFutbol for soccer skills and drills and Strava for general fitness, enabled remote players and coaches to track their progress together this fall.

Of course, the Bengal got in some good practice with hygiene and safety protocols too.

Meet our Fall 2020 coaches.
