The Executive Committee is comprised of the president, vice president, secretary, and treasurer of the Board, the Head of School and the chair of each Committee. The committee organizes the work of the Board, and acts on behalf of the Board when the President (or Executive Committee member acting on behalf of the President) determines that a matter is urgent or highly confidential.
The Finance Committee is responsible for supervising finances of the School and making recommendations to the board concerning financial matters, including the budget each year, long term financial planning, and investment of funds. The Committee ensures that the Board acts in a fiscally prudent manner so that the school remains financially sound.
The Development Committee is responsible for supervising fund-raising in support of the School, including organizing and supervising the role of the Board of Trustee in all fund-raising activities, including annual giving.
The Equity and Inclusion Committee is responsible for overseeing and promoting Burke's efforts to live up to the ideals described in our Equity and Inclusion Statement. This statement was created in 2014- 2015 with input from the Burke community.
The Committee on Trustees' Affairs is charged with the development, continuing education and training of Board members. It is also responisble for recruiting, nominating and admitting individuals to the Board and for selecting and nominating officers.
The Facilities Planning and Construction committee is responsible for improving the school's physical environment to serve the educational requirements of the faculty, staff and students. Among other tasks, this Committee prioritizes facility improvements, prepares and solicits bids, award contracts, and manages construction budgets and schedules.
