Election Engagement

This winter, ten 10th graders (selected by their peers) represented Burke at the DC Project Soapbox speech competition.
In April, three competitors from that contingent (Maya D. '26, Sydney J. '26, Taylor S. '26) went on to represent Project Soapbox and Burke at a local elections-focused trip to Philadelphia. Students met with candidates and community leaders about the history of Philadelphia's political landscape, took an HBCU College Tour at Lincoln University, and explored the local civic engagement scene.
