Faculty Spotlights: Mitch (History) and Alison (Science)

Our teachers are persistent students – of their own disciplines, and of educational practice.
Congratulations to Mitch M. (History), who was selected to participate in the year-long DC Declaration of Learning program. The program received hundreds of applications, and Mitch was one of only 20 educators selected. This summer, he completed an intensive professional development and is prepared to implement the object-based and project-based skills with his students.

As Alison S. (Science) completes a Master's in Science Education, students have the opportunity to participate in her action research study: "Engaging in Argumentative Inquiry in Science through the CER Writing Scaffold." The study has been approved by the University of Northern Colorado's Institutional Review Board and will engage students in her Earth Science Systems (ESS) and Advanced ESS course in the coming months.
